The Focal Arche amp/DAC is a sumptuous product, both in substance and form. However, his early career was marked by some incompatibility problems with certain devices. In fact, these are smartphones, tablets or PCs running Android and Linux. Focal has fully heard the complaints of its users: the French brand is now offering an update to correct this malfunction. Focal Arche update: newsletter n°193
In its newsletter n°193 dated August 3, 2020, Focal writes the following to us. “Following the feedback we received regarding an incompatibility of our Arche amplifier/DAC with certain Android or Linux devices, we worked on an update of the Arche amplifier chipset. After extensive beta testing, we are happy to announce that with this new update, these incompatibility issues are resolved. » This digital newsletter is accompanied by an update procedure, which we invite you to discover below. At the moment, this update can only be performed from a Windows computer.
Here is the procedure for updating your Focal Arche amp/DAC. Please follow all the steps!
|STEP 2: Download the app|
|Above, the link to download the application that allows the firmware update of the Xmos chipset (in Arche).|
|STEP 4: Install the update|
| – Connect the USB-A / USB-B cable between the computer and Arche (USB-B), unzip
the application file downloaded, then load the .bin file using the Browse button.
– Start the update. As soon as it is done, restart Arche.
Note that with some Android devices, you may also need to have a USB OTG cable and download the Audio Player Pro application (UAPP) for some streaming applications.
