Lovers of planar headphones will be delighted: the new Audeze iSine 10 and iSine 20 earphones are the first in-ear headphones equipped with this technology highly coveted by audiophiles! We were able to listen to them over a little coffee, before breaking in, and we can already salute their very spacious sound stage, with a perfectly identifiable placement of instruments, a well-ventilated treble, and a particularly clear midrange. Heavy from heavy!
Performance worthy of over-ear headphones
The Audeze iSine 10 and iSine 20 headphones both feature 30mm drivers with Fluxor magnet and ultra-thin Uniforce voice-coil diaphragm. On the iSine 20, the coil is larger, and covers a larger part of the diaphragm, which has the effect of delivering a more credible bass, and an even wider sound stage. In both cases, we are very close to the sound of open circumaural headphones, both in terms of ventilation and spatialization. The measurements are also mind-blowing, with an ultra-wide bandwidth of 10 Hz 50 kHz and total harmonic distortion of less than 0.1%: you’re not about to come across headphones with this type of characteristics again! Thanks to an impedance of 16 Ohms, the Audeze iSine 10 and iSine 20 headphones can be efficiently powered by a smartphone or even better, an audiophile player.
Two cables supplied, including 1 Cipher cable with 24-bit DAC
The Audeze iSine 10 and iSine 20 in-ear headphones were presented to us in a bundle with a classic mini-jack audio cable, compatible with all smartphones, and a Cipher cable with Lightning plug for Apple devices. With this Cipher cable, they will benefit not only from a 24-bit DAC, but also from a headphone amplifier and a DSP, all three integrated. You can also answer phone calls, and summarily control your music. This should appeal to owners of iDevices! Comfort is also there, first because these headphones are light, but also because the ear hooks make it possible to balance the weight of the headphones well. Even after two hours of listening, we didn’t feel any particular discomfort. We will end with the design from another galaxy, signed DesignWorksUSA (a subsidiary belonging to dark Vador -sorry- BMW).
With its iSine 10 and iSine 20, Audeze gives us the first in-ear headphones in the world using magnetic planar technology. The result is simply exquisite! Sold respectively 480€ and 700€, the iSine 10 and iSine 20 are extremely well placed: I know some who will crack for Christmas… Me included!
