The young firm Master & Dynamic was created in New York in 2013 by Jonathan Levine and Vicki Gross. Since its inception, the company has specialized in the design of high-end audio headsets.
Master & Dynamic: from New York with love
The story begins when Levine realizes that his son cannot find the headphones of his dreams on the market. Seeing this as a great opportunity, Levine joined forces with Gross to launch Master & Dynamic. The two partners come across helmets from 1940 at the Washington DC Museum, and realize that they are still intact thanks to the quality of the materials used at the time (metal, leather, etc.). Master & Dynamic then hires the services of designer Marten Wallby to create the first helmets stamped with the brand’s seal. They were made from stainless steel, leather, aluminum, or even woven copper for the cables. With two models in their catalog in 2014, the slogan was: Master & Dynamic headphones were “audio tools for creative minds”! Bose alumnus Drew Stone Briggs joins the company. It gives birth to audiophile headphones with brass shells plated with 8 mm of titanium. All production will be sold in less than 3 days, in November 2015. At the end of the year, Master & Dynamic releases its first wireless headphones.
Today, the Master & Dynamics range of headphones is made up of Audiophile Headphones, Wireless Headphones and In-ear Headphones which are among the best products in their categories. The brand collaborates with many artists through its In-Residence program, and has even funded the Harlem Village Academies education program.
